Youth Employment and Human Rights

Course description:

The course Youth Employment and Human Rights offers SI Alumni and participants the opportunity to improve their knowledge about Youth Employment and Human Rights. Transformational processes in Ukraine demand new attitude towards graduates and young professionals. Modern democratic society needs active citizens, knowing labour law, the human rights and ready to work in mobilized, globalized world

Topics included:

  • The fundamental Human Rights Declaration today.
  • The implications of the HR on international and national level.
  • Labour law and rights at work: equal opportunities and protection against discrimination.
  • Job placements and further education leading to a qualification.

Aims and main content of the course:

  • To expand and strengthen SI Alumni network.
  • To deepen the participants’ knowledge about Human Rights and Rights at Work on an international and national level.
  • To problemize and question the implications of the HR in a multicultural world.
  • To deepen the knowledge about youth employment opportunities and employment laws.

The first day

September19, 2016

09:00-10:00 – Registration (meeting the participants)

10:00-10:30 – Official opening

10:30-11:20 – Public and civic activities as the main mechanism of HR protection: youth employment initiative (Natalia Titova, expert in Labour Law) (lecture)

11:20- 11:40 – Discussion (questions and answers: rights at work – equal opportunities)

11:40-12:00 – FIKA

12:00-13:15 – Lennart Spolander, Ywonne Wiklund: Introduction to the fundamental HR declaration today (lecture)

13:15-14:00 – Lunch

14:00-15:30 – Workshop. Youth employment: problems and rights. Discussion

15:30 – 15:40 – FIKA

15:40 – 16:00 – Evaluation.

16:30 – Walking Tour around the city: churches and old centre.

18:00 – Dinner

 

The second day

September 20, 2016

9:00-9:30 – Meeting the participants. Picture gallery…music…reflections from the 1st  day

9:30-11:00 – “Who believes in Human Rights?” Personal cases presentation and discussion (K.Shapochka, L.Spolander, Y.Wiklund)

11.00-11.15 – FIKA

11:15-13:00 – Active citizens of a globalized world. Exercises and materials from UNESCO manual. Discussion

13:00-13:45 – Lunch

13:45-14:45 – Movie “A class divided”. Discussion

14:45-15:30 – Human Rights – Healthy way of life (Ywonne Wiklund, health promotion officer, Umea, Sweden)

15:30-15:45 – FIKA

15:45-17.00 – Workshop. Discussion. Evaluation.

17:00 –         Certificate ceremony. SI Alumni experience exchange.
